Waiting is the hardest part

When my daughter was little, we used to read to her. My personal favorite was Dr. Seuss because those books had been my favorite as a child. The first book I read by myself was Green Eggs and Ham and the nonsensical drawings and funny words developed a love of books that I feel to this day.

In one of his books, Oh The Places You Will Go, there was a part about the waiting place.

Writing is full of waiting. Waiting for an idea to germinate and grow. Waiting for time to sit and write. Waiting for your critique partner, agent, or editor to get back to you. Waiting for the phone to ring, to hear the results of a contest, or for the mailman to come. Waiting for that first big break. Or the next.

What are you waiting for?
