I love the television show Diners, Dive-ins and Dives. It’s one of my favorite programs. I can watch D, D &D every night and the same episodes over again. A dream vacation, for me, would be to go across country, stopping at places Guy visited, and chow down on the yummy food he was treated to by the chefs. I’d have to walk to the next restaurant, or roll, because I know, without a doubt, I’d be hoisting mega saddlebags in no time. As a writer whose job is to keep butt in chair, sampling tons could be very bad.

What draws me to D, D & D is the unknown goodies coupled with the familiar, and the program is a learning experience. I’m sure if you’ve watched you know of what I speak. Some of the foods the restaurateurs prepare I’ve never heard of before. Some I don’t want to think about ever again. I give kudos to Guy for trying the very unusual and finding something nice to say.

I love learning about the unique spices used to bring distinctive qualities in meats and veggies. And there are more ways to prepare foods than just throwing it into a pot and warming it on a stove.

By now you’re wondering what the heck this has to do with romantic suspense, right? Watching, D, D & D is a lot like coming to this blog. First, Guy seems to like a lot of different foods, but I truly believe beef is true love. Where Guy visits and samples dishes, you the reader came to this blog because you’re thinking you’d like to sample, or at least window shop for a new romantic suspense. Romantic suspense is your beef.

There are a number of great romantic suspense authors. I’m a fan of many myself. Our styles and voices are unique. A few of us might pick the same topic as a foundation for our stories but we approach the subject from distinct angles and dissect the issue in different ways and to various levels. For example, my new release, Seized By Darkness, is about human trafficking, a rising transgression. I choose to write my story from the victim’s, Nicole’s perspective. Nicole is not a likely heroine, since she was held captive for eight years and forced to become the mistress of a mafia lord. But there was no other way I could write this story and show the victim’s heartfelt emotion that I wanted to convey. The story was Nicole’s. Over the years, the girl turned woman has seen horrific acts and has endured much, but she is a survivor with a capital S. She is a lioness who wants a normal, happy life outside of hell for the child she bore. She never loses hope of enduring, but she holds no hope of being truly loved by a good man. Enter in U.S. Marshal William Haus, a great guy with lots of heart.

I could go on and tell you the whole story, but I don’t want to spoil your reading pleasure. To me, Seized By Darkness is the perfect combination of suspense, emotion, and romance. It’s Guy’s beef seasoned and prepared perfectly. The novel released in July and is now available on Amazon and B&N in both digital format and paperback. I hope you’ll check it out.
